Miguel A. Faria is a researcher at LAQV-REQUIMTE. Owns a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (University of Porto, 1997) and received his PhD in Nutrition and Food Chemistry in 2005.

His main research focuses are the development of (i) fast DNA-based methods for the authentication of species (plants, animal and fungi) and plant varieties in foodstuffs; and (ii) human cell based assays for testing the effects of food bioactive/toxic compounds as well as their bioaccessibility throughout in vitro digestions and bioavailability.

Participated in international (FP7, H2020) and national funded research projects. H index 10, published 29 indexed papers, 4 book chapters and over 40 communications presented in national and international conferences. Supervised/co-supervised 5 MSc and 1 PhD thesis (ongoing).
